A perfect week


Since the start of my Bikini Body Guide journey I have seen this #ONEPERFECTWEEK all over Instagram. I have wanted to take part in this challenge a while back but didn't have the courage to do so.

The start of December wasn't as clean as I had wanted it to be, food wise, and no matter what I did I just couldn't seem to help myself from eating almost everything. Now that the end of my 1st round of BBG is (almost) nearing, I want to prove to myself that I can push myself even harder to finish strong.

My #ONEPERFECTWEEK will be from 7 December 2015 until 13 December 2015 and my goals are:
  • 10,000 steps
  • 10 flights of stairs
  • 90 % clean eating, my calorie intake will be 1600
  • Get a workout in
  • Drink 2-3 litres of water
 My objective is to meet all of my goals each day. I will write an update with proof of completing said week.

If you feel like joining in, it would be amazing and would make my journey less challenging.

So here's to me crushing my goals ;)

December to remember


 Lovely humans,

I was tagged by two ladies from the #bbgcommunity on Instagram to list my December Goals and I thought to myself "how brilliant would it be to write a post dedicated to this!". This will be a longer version of what I will be posting on Instagram.

 So here we go:

  • Plan ahead
As I had stated in my previous post, I wasn't active for a month and I honestly do not wish for this to become a common occurrence. I believe that it's high time to think ahead of posts; I would like to publish and write these up during the weekend. I know of bloggers who do this and this is definitely something that I will be implementing.

  • Take part in One Perfect Week
#oneperfectweek is a challenge, started by a bbg sister, where you can list your goals for this particular week that you wish to achieve and execute as perfect as possible. Given that I didn't enter December in a healthy manner I will be taking part in this next week, for the first time- woohoo! I will write a post on this.

  • Read books 
I have this list of books I have to read for uni and have been putting it off for as long as I can remember- I can't help it, I'm just a professional procrastinator- but I think it's high time to get it done during the holidays. I do enjoy reading, I just forget how fun it is at times.

  • Be positive and kind 
I suppose nobody likes to see a grumpy person in December XD I have been working on becoming more positive during these past months, and it has been going really well. I do still have some really off days where I'm not as chipper and just want to shut all things positive out; I suppose I'm still a work in progress.

  • Take part in the December Squat challenge 
I started doing this challenge in November, but wasn't able to complete the whole month, this is why I am moving the challenge to December and have added weights to make it more challenging. I have noticed some booty gains from November alone, so I'm pretty excited to see December's end results.

  • Eat clean
Given that it is December, I just have to cut myself some slack- am I right? I will only allow myself to have a cheat meal on special days such as Christmas, New Year's Eve, and any other special celebrations (I don't have any as of yet :|)

  • Increase my water intake
I haven't been very good at staying hydrated in the past; I am adding this to my list so I can pay close attention to this.

Status Update


Hello there beautiful creatures of planet Earth,

So, I haven't been active on my blog for a while and I have no one but myself to blame for this. I would like to start off by apologizing wholeheartedly.

I definitely need to start planning my posts to prevent this from happening again, so guess what's going on top of my December Goals list- hah. This post is basically to announce my coming out of hibernation mode and getting back into the blogosphere.

I have some fun little posts coming up, so I do hope that you guys are forgiving enough to once again start frequenting Phoebe Giggles.

Hues of Pink | #breastcancerawareness


I was contacted by the kindhearted Kumba Dauda who is running a blogger campaign and has partnered up with WEAR IT PINK to raise awareness for breast cancer. This is done by adding a hint of pink to your makeup look.

Kumba is an active participant in raising awareness for breast cancer, as this is near and dear to her heart. Her story is a very touching one and I feel it's a worthy cause to support and help in any which way that I can. Spreading awareness helps with the prevention of malignant cancers  and checking yourself routinely certainly is necessary.  

Given that it is breast cancer awareness month, I wanted to write a post to raise awareness and Kumba's request couldn't have come at a better time. Instead of makeup I chose something more familiar to my readers; I wanted to choose something that lasts a bit longer, but still got the message across despite it's subtleness.

For raising awareness I chose to display an array of nail polishes in several pink shades. The brands that will be displayed are: Essie; Sally Hansen; OPI. For each polish, I started out with a base coat to prevent my nails from getting yellow and to smooth out bumps and impurities. After adding a few coats of the color, I finished it off with a topcoat to make it last longer and stay shiny.

I'll start off with the Essie colors:

The first one I used is called Muchi Muchi, which is a very soft, creamy and sweet pink color.

"don't speak Italian? let your fingers do the talking with effusive and affectionate, creamy and luscious, pink with a kiss of mauve lacquer. when in Rome, get a manicure. trust me." 
I applied 3 coats of this lovely color, don't forget to allow drying time in between.

The second Essie polish I applied is called Lovie Dovie, which has a bit more of a pink kick to it:

"cuddle with color. this perfect true flamingo pink polish creates a lovely manicure that'll be a sweetheart forever."

I only applied two coats of Lovie Dovie, given that it covers so well.

The third polish is called Funny Face; a vibrant pink, borderline fuchsia color. This color screams oomph!

For this one, I also only applied 2 coats, given that the consistency is just right.

Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails XTREME Wear in Pink Punk; the name says it all, it's a very retro color- almost red-ish. The consistency of this one was alright, I only applied two coats although it is a bit see through. I suppose this is how the formula is. This is the first time that I used this line of Sally Hansen, it is decent and I would make a purchase again.

The last two nail polishes I used are OPI and a topcoat of Essie, I thought that they would complement each other. The OPI polish is called Coney Island Cotton Candy and this is a very old nail polish I had lying around. I honestly adore this color; it's a pink borderline orange color that resembles a nude color when applied to my nails.

On top of this I applied two topcoats of Essie's A Cut Above from the luxeeffects collection.  I honestly thought that the glitters had a rose gold touch to it, however, I was mistaken:

"top your favorite essie color with a coat of jewels and create a lavish nail look with this cutting edge, shattered pink diamond glitz lacquer."

So, there you have my simple pink nail looks!

By no means am I trying to be sappy, but I must admit that I am entirely grateful for her support and amazing tips. What inspired you to start blogging?
To me this is more of a who then a what, and the who is my sister, Jo.

This is dependent on my mood, however, every now and then I have a look at Stephanie's blog Hello Natural and I get inspired. She has amazing tips and healthy replacements for almost anything that you can think of.

Who do you look up to and why?
I thoroughly look up to my partner Corey; this guy has shown me what patience is, helped me through my many moments of doubt and rough times. He really is very positive and I am certain that I can always count on him.
What inspires your posts?
Inspiration often stems from my ideas, I also get inspired by other bloggers and Jo.

If you had to choose one celebrity to trade places with, who would it be?
I would love to trade places with any celebrity that has a personal chef, so that I wouldn't have to worry about meal prepping, hah.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
As I am currently working on being more healthy and fit, I hope that my hard work will have paid off by then and that it will physically show; I hope to have obtained my English degree & that our - my sister and I- company will be up and running; I see Corey, our pups & I living back in the states.

Who is your favorite youtuber?
I am seldom on YouTube, however, when I am I find myself watching Dona Camaj her videos. I honestly adore her, not only is she beautiful, she is also very talented. She creates beautiful looks, makeup- and style wise.

Chill mode


I suppose it's high time I share my playlist with you all. This time I chose to keep it on the laid back side, given that I last shared one that was suitable for workouts, errands or anything else.

During the past three weeks I have had to stretch after each workout, which is something I refused to do prior to this; I know, terrible but I'm making changes now. This is besides the point, though. During said stretches I need to cool down, focus on becoming more flexible and keep my thoughts calm.

I realized that music is a huge part of daily activities, obviously. And I do have a ton of songs that belong to different genres, so what I focused on, was to create a playlist that would bring me serenity and bring me to a calmer state.
